Short-form video concepting with MCP

Structure hooks, narrative load, and editor handoff while keeping Studio duration and model-specific ratio support unresolved.

The current public catalog lists Kling 2.6 Pro as a 42-credit text-to-video model for social video and Veo 3.1 Fast as a 96-credit text-to-video model for premium campaigns. Separately, fal documents five or ten seconds and three ratios for its Kling endpoint, and four, six, or eight seconds and two ratios for its Veo endpoint. These direct-provider facts do not establish the duration or ratios configured by Studio.

The published `generate` schema requires `modelId` and `prompt`, permits a shared optional `aspectRatio` enum and `wait`, and exposes neither duration nor audio controls. This research did not observe exact Studio IDs, per-model ratio support, configured duration, or completed output. Record duration and placement as editorial requirements, then stop rather than translating provider options into an OfflineCreator promise or undocumented argument.

Turn a campaign request into a bounded clip concept

Short-form video concepting with MCP is most useful before anyone asks a model to make a finished post. Convert the request into a concept packet containing one audience tension, one opening hook, one visible change, one camera behavior, a duration requirement, one end frame, and one editor note. The packet should be rejectable without spending credits. Do not assume that Studio will return a five- or eight-second clip: those durations come from direct-provider documentation, not an observed Studio runtime.

MCP supplies a schema-defined way for a model to discover and request tools, but the protocol does not prescribe a creative method or one approval interface. Its current tools specification says applications should keep a human able to deny invocations and should present confirmation prompts. Apply that boundary here: let the agent structure alternatives and prepare a tool call, while a person chooses the concept and confirms any paid generation.

Separate the hook from the generated shot

Write three hook candidates before writing a visual prompt. A reveal hook withholds the object or outcome until the last beat. A contrast hook places the ordinary and surprising states in the same composition. A motion hook starts with an action that is readable in the first frame. Choose one based on what viewers must understand without captions, then reduce it to a single shot. The hook is an editorial decision; a video model only receives the visual and motion directions that express it.

Use a hook card with four fields: the first-frame question, the change viewers can see, the frame where the answer becomes clear, and the live copy an editor may add later. Reject a card if it requires two locations, several cuts, exact on-screen spelling, or a sequence of independent actions. Those demands belong in a storyboard and edit plan, not in one short generated clip.

Reveal
Delay one visible answerKeep the subject and camera stable enough that the transformation remains legible.
Contrast

Write a shot card an agent can check

A useful shot card names purpose before style. Record the audience, hook type, subject, setting, start state, end state, subject action, camera action, lighting change, placement-ratio requirement, duration requirement, and rejection conditions. Leave executable model, ratio, and duration fields unresolved until current Studio evidence exists. Reserve clean areas for captions, but keep exact copy in the editor plan.

For example: “Vertical launch reveal for a reusable bottle; matte bottle centered on a dark stone surface; begin in silhouette; one warm side light rises while the camera makes a slow push-in; condensation becomes visible; settle on a clean hero frame; no logo, lettering, extra objects, cuts, or geometry changes.” The editor note can separately specify the opening line, legal copy, soundtrack intention, and final call to action. This division makes failures diagnosable: generation owns the shot, while the edit owns sequence, text, and sound.

Must preserve
Subject identity, geometry, crop, and intended actionTreat drift, unwanted text, abrupt camera jumps, or an unusable final frame as rejection reasons.
May vary
Minor texture, particles, and background detailDeclare acceptable variation before reviewing so preference does not silently rewrite the brief.

Use narrative load to define a duration requirement

Use a paper timing test to determine how much time the editorial idea requires. Read the shot card aloud while moving a playhead through the proposed beats. If the action needs “then cut,” “meanwhile,” or a second location, split it into separate concepts. A shorter requirement favors one immediate change and a stable exit; a longer requirement can allow a slower setup or hold, but it should not silently introduce a second scene.

This timing exercise does not select Kling, Veo, five seconds, or eight seconds. It produces a requirement to compare with a future connected Studio contract. The beat allocation, hook rules, and simplification advice are authored planning guidance, not measured model behavior or evidence that Studio exposes a matching duration.

Related circuit

Use the creator-use-case hub when the team has not yet decided whether video is the right medium. Move to multi-format content packaging when one approved idea must coordinate vertical motion with square, wide, or still assets. Use campaign-asset approval when the shot exists and reviewers must verify source rights, claims, brand fit, cost, disclosure, and delivery status. These routes own different decisions; they do not expand what one generated concept proves.

Keep the evidence boundary visible

Recent community coverage was insufficient. The required last30days run retrieved 75 dated items across Digg, GitHub, grounding, Hacker News, Instagram, partially covered Reddit, and TikTok, but final classification found zero relevant items for OfflineCreator short-form concepting or Studio five- and eight-second limits. X was not configured; YouTube, arXiv, Polymarket, and Techmeme returned no results; and Reddit ended partial after RSS future-feed failures with keyless and arctic-shift recovery. Those failures do not establish silence on the affected platforms, so this page makes no practitioner-consensus, adoption, quality, speed, savings, or outcome claim.

This page owns pre-generation editorial work: audience tension, hook choice, narrative load, shot-card structure, rejection criteria, and editor handoff fields. Current sources establish public catalog fields and package-level tools, while fal documents provider duration and ratios; no generation, billing check, editor session, audience test, or publication was performed. Because current five- and eight-second Studio limits are not verified, this page cannot satisfy its overlap guard and must keep actionable guidance consolidated in the creator-use-case hub.
